day 6
It's Day 6 of my 30 Day Female Character Meme! :)

Day Six: Favorite female-driven show

This was actually a no brainer for me. I just had to with a show that will forever be a favorite: Gilmore Girls.

As with most shows, my sister got me hooked. She was watching and I got curious. I was won over almost immediately. I just love Rory and Lorelai but most importantly, I love their relationship. Though unconventional, they're just really great. I love that they're not only mother-daughter but best friends. Also, I like that they even used this as a source of problems as Lorelai had to struggle to draw the line between friend and parent, sometimes having to choose between her roles.

The banter was great and though I had my share of problems with season 7, I do love the way they ended the show- with the two of them. It felt right. I do miss this show at times and that's when having some of the DVDs and YouTube comes in handy. :D

I only really got to see the like, last two seasons of this show. And I agree, this was awesome in so many ways... what I did NOT care for, is Logan's father basically crushing Rory's dreams and then she went all "if he said so, must be true". I hate the effect it had on her.

Oh, if you get the chance, you should totally see the earlier seasons! They were amazing.

Yeah, that was lame. I couldn't believe that Rory just took it. She has always fought for what she wants and yeah, I get that he's a big newspaper man and her boyfriend's father but that doesn't make it okay. :\

This is exactly what I did, I saw a couple of episodes of season 6 and started by watching season 7, fell in love with the show and now own the entire series and am constantly watching it through. The writing is just so incredible that even if it is so 'gal-oriented' a guy can absolutely adore it!

Gotta remember how much Rory idolises people, remember how psyched she was for that internship, even borrowing copious amounts of books on wine and Haiti (Previous areas of the big newspaper man's expertise) and cause of his position it makes sense that it hit her so hard. And Rory looking up to people is part of her character, for example the one person she has been inspired by her whole life: Christiane Amanpour. Well her and Lorelei, who wouldn't look up to a mum that amazing?

Sos I can just really get into the show and love discussing it. But so glad you posted this to give me fuel to rant about the fabulous show, I am still hoping that one day they all get together and make a movie despite the fact that the show ended beautifully.

And now if you will excuse I have to get out of bed and get to my uni so I can vote and not get a fine. The first time I'm old enough to have my voice be heard in a political and national (well, state) environment, and I only feel like cuddling up in bed and watching tv on dvd :D

Yup, it is definitely addictive. I started on an earlier season but I definitely didn't see it from the start and I was hooked pretty quickly, which did result in me going back and watching past seasons. :)

Gotta remember how much Rory idolises people
That is a good point, which I forgot about. I suppose that everyone has always encouraged her and her journalism dreams so the first person to reject her be someone of such a high position was a shock.

Well her and Lorelei, who wouldn't look up to a mum that amazing?
Very true.

I am still hoping that one day they all get together and make a movie despite the fact that the show ended beautifully.
That would be awesome, though at this point, I doubt it will happen. I'd still love it though.

Oh, wow, you get a fine for not voting? Well, happy voting then! I remember being really excited to vote but I'm can be a geek like that. I'm pretty sure I registered to vote even before I got my license.

It's such a great show! :D

A few things in S6 and S7 irked me, but overall a great series. The ending felt right like you said, with the gals :)
Yup, that's what I feel too. Very creative and a lot of fun. There aren't a lot of shows out there like it these days, which is a shame.
