fanmix tutorials?
Flist, I need some help. As you know, I love to make fanmixes, but I really want to make my covers better. Do you know of any places that have tutorials for covers? I tried looking myself but I couldn't find anything. For those of you who do make them, could you tell me how you come up with ideas? I only have GIMP so nothing Photoshop related please.

Any and all advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance! ♥

I only use Photoshop so I'm of no help. I learned a lot of graphics tricks by just asking makers who do icons/etc that I like, as well as looking at album cover art that I liked (from CD's etc). Also looking at advanced PS tutorials for ideas helped.

TBH, Gimp isn't that great. PS is easy to acquire if you know how (wink nudge), and tutorials for it are far more plentiful.

That's good advice. I try looking through other fanmixes for ideas too but I will definitely try that.

I just got it because it was free and I needed it for graphic challenges for the landcomms I'm in. Sadly, I don't know where to look but if I could get my hands on it, I totally would, lol.

Thank you for the suggestions! :D

I use photoshop but I can say less is more when it comes to fanmixes unless it's for a crap load of characters. Also even though it's cheesy sometimes sticking to helvetica fonts are best until ur comfortable with making covers.

I've done a bunch of fanmixes already but I just want to take my covers to the next level. And yeah, mine tend to be mostly character or ship centric so there's only one or two people. Thanks!

basically how I make fanmix covers. is just make a 4x larger icon
usually go 400x400 or 500x500

you can take a look, I like to do b&w mostly. easier to blend.

but perhaps try icon_tutorial for some ideas?

I try to keep it 500x500 too, or close to that size. Good to know that it's a reasonable one.

I like your fanmix covers. They're pretty. And the b&w is a good idea. I haven't been to that comm and I will definitely check it out.

Thanks so much! :)

cover pics
this may sound funny, but i have found a way to use power point as a way to make pics. just make it the way you want and save as a jpeg format in the saved section. i use gimp too, but once i found that i could use power point if you save and the paint color back drop doesn't show use paint program to refill the color.

Re: cover pics
Huh. That is interesting. I never would've thought to use Power Point. I will keep that suggestion in mind. Thanks!
