Part 2 of TV Guide interview!
Here's the second part of Erica's TV Guide interview. The original source is here.

Now that "Stiletto" has kicked up her heels and gotten some good phone from the Blur, the CW's Smallville (Thursdays at 8 pm/ET) is just three weeks from its Season 8 finale. Here in Part 2 of our Q&A, Erica Durance shares a glimpse at the season-ender, in which Clark and Doomsday will go toe-to-toe (or at least cotton windbreaker-to-bony protrusions)

TVGuide.com: Before we tease the season finale, I want to rewind a bit and talk about the episode "Hex." To accurately play Lois-as-Chloe, did you work with Allison Mack, or did you study her mannerisms from afar? The result was pretty spot-on.
Erica Durance: Thank you for that. I was duly nervous to do that because of how good Allison is, and also because I know that the fans love the Chloe character. So I really wanted to make sure that I gave it my best effort. I did two things: I studied a lot of Allison's episodes, from this year specifically. And then, and this was really lovely, she would run over and give me advice, these little pieces that you only know if you're the one playing the character.

TVGuide.com: There were so many nice touches, like the nervous lower-lip bite, the wide-open eyes.....
Durance: What was really fun was that as I started to get my groove, I surprised myself and some stuff just came out. It was a fun show because people were laughing at how close it was. You had Allison going, "I didn't know I did that with my face!" And Tom [Welling], because he works so much with Allison as well, had a couple of really great hints to share with me. It was a team effort, and it was a riot.

TVGuide.com: Now let's talk about the season finale. What three words would you use to describe it?
Durance: Let me think... . I would say heartbreaking, surprising .. and magical.

TVGuide.com: "Magical"? Interesting. Does Lois have a good seat for the big throw-down between the boys?
Durance: [Laughs] I'm not allowed to say anything that Lois is doing. But I'll tell you this much: Lois has a good thrown fight of her own. And I bet you anything it will rival what the boys are doing, because it's two girls fighting.

TVGuide.com: Did any of the finale deaths utterly surprise you, the actress?
Durance: We all were taken aback when we got our script. Each one of us, seeing what all of our characters is doing... . Like I said, some heartbreaking things happen. I'm guessing that people will be sitting there at the end with a stunned look, their mouths hanging open, going, "Oh my God."

TVGuide.com: In closing, I wanted to share with you what [executive producer] Kelly Souders told us the other day: "You'll be seeing more of Lois in the future. She's fascinating and we'll never stop digging into what makes her tick." So I have a good feeling this will not be the last time you and I speak.
Durance: I hope it's not. If so, maybe I'll just call and stalk you anyways!
TVGuide.com: Sweet!

I love Erica's interviews. She's just great.

She uses some interesting words to describe the finale. I'm not raising my hopes. My bet is still on that Ollie's going to die. No, I'm not happy about it but with the way his character is going and looking at these new stills from 'Doomsday', I don't know what else to do with him! I'm mentally preparing himself now if that ends up being the case. So far? Not working.

Feel free to share your thoughts!

They wouldn't kill off a Justice League-r, would they?
svgurl: Green Arrow Qsvgurl on April 30th, 2009 12:16 am (UTC)
I don't know! I mean, DC Comics have killed off Ollie before too. They brought him back to life but he was dead. It'd be stupid to kill him off, especially since Batman is not involved with the League ... they'd fall apart! But if they're set on killing a regular, who else COULD it be? :(

I get the feeling Ollie's gonna die. :( Especially as they had him kill Lex and now the Doomsday stills...

Can I just say HELL NO!

Yeah, it's not looking good for our blond archer. :(

Can I just say HELL NO!

I love Erica interviews, and her word choices for the finale are interesting but sigh, I think Ollie is going to the really bad place---but many times things (especially in SV) turn out to not be as they seem. Surely they wouldn't give away something so epic in stills, right?

Erica's interviews are just great and so much fun to read!

Ollie is really ... I don't even know what to say about him anymore!

Surely they wouldn't give away something so epic in stills, right?
Well, in the stills, it's him aiming his bow and arrow. Then the next one has Clark on the ground, with an arrow in his back. I mean ... what connection can I make? It doesn't say that Ollie will die but the path he's going down doesn't seem to lead to a happy ending. :(

Well, they are insisting that there will be a "vet" who dies and the death sticks. I mean, they put it quotes and Ollie can considered a vet, in comparison to say Davis and Tess.

But yeah if they do kill Oliver, OMG I will be very shocked.
Trust me, I'll cry. But I don't know who else it could be. :(

I always enjoy Erica's interviews. She's delightful.

I saw the stills earlier and I cringed at certain ones, while I grinned at others. Easy to figure out what got the cringes and what got the smiles.

I have no idea what to do with Ollie either and the more I hear about him in the upcoming episodes, the more lost I feel toward him. *sigh* Again I'll say I really miss the old Ollie.

She really is! Very genuine and sweet.

I saw the stills earlier and I cringed at certain ones, while I grinned at others. Easy to figure out what got the cringes and what got the smiles.
You probably smiled and cringed in the same places I did. :(

Ollie is just so ... IDK. I mean, I was really believing in him, always pointing out where he kept coming back to the right side and redeeming himself. But even I can't say anything about this.

Again I'll say I really miss the old Ollie.
I do too. :(

You don't build a brand new JLA set to add more of a JLA element of focus to S9 and kill off the leader of the JLA before you get to it.
That's a good point. I mean, but who from the JLA other than Ollie could they keep for s9 anyway? I heard that Alaina is signed on to another show for next year.

Throw in DC protections and Justin's popularity? I'm very confident that Oliver is safe. =)
Except for the fact that Ollie has been killed in the comics before. Sure, they resurrected him but as far as I'm concerned, that makes him fair game. They've taken a very dark path with him this season and while I would love to believe that you are right, I'm being a bit more cautiuos.

I won't believe Chloe is safe until I see it but I really do believe that they'll drag her for another season before killing her off. I think they will kill her before the end of the series ... just not yet. She may not have a lot to do but there's not a lot of regulars left.

Yes, Clark will forgive anything but Oliver won't. And if Oliver doesn't forgive her she has no Watchtower job.
You're forgetting that Ollie is not in tip top shape when it comes to morals. He murdered Lex. I don't think he's going to play the hypocrite and condemn her. I don't think he's going to see it the way you do.

Jimmy's definitely safe because they're taking this show in a LnC direction so I'm with you there. Davis will be dead.

As for Chloe and Ollie, we don't know until the finale airs.

Exactly. So, there won't really be a Justice League slant in season 9, unless you count GA (if he survives) and Clark. Perhaps they'll bring Zatanna back and knowing SV, there will probably be some new DC characters thrown in (IDK ... Green Lantern?).

I don't think you can say 100% that anyone, other than Lois and Clark are safe.

Re: Chloe I don't think it's a matter of Oliver being a hypocrite over committing crimes, it's about trust.
Ollie is not the kind of guy who will hold grudges. And if you remember, he was in Syria when the whole thing happened. I think they could've avoided even telling him.

And if you think Chloe has nothing to do, what does Ollie? Even with 12 episodes this season, they're already messing up his character. As much as I adore him, he won't have anything to do in s9. I don't want him to get some random new love interest/be around to play adversary to Clark.

We just have to wait on this one. And like I said, they've put vet in quotes before so it may not be a vet vet but someone who has been on the show for a few years.
