pic
I was sharing this pic with someone else and I figured you all should see it! I found it on Tumblr here and it amused me.

It's Stephen Amell and Henry Cavill! Oliver and Clark- the new version. We may never see them on screen together but hey, it's something. What can I say? They may not be my beloved JH & TW, but I'll take it. XD

Also, I finally saw the pilot of Arrow, but I'll post my thoughts in a separate entry.

I cannot watch any other Superman franchise movies because if I see anyone other than Michael playing Lex, it just doesn't work D:

I understand. Michael's portrayal is a tough one to live up to. I remember being really disappointed when watching Superman Returns, because while Kevin Spacey is no doubt a good actor, he just didn't feel as natural in the role as Rosenbaum always did.

I can't get into Arrow. He is just not pretty .... Yes, I am THAT shallow.

LOL Aren't we all? I decided to give it a shot because the trailer had me intrigued, and while I find him attractive [not pretty because that doesn't seem like the right word], I agree that he definitely doesn't compare to Justin. XD

I think Steve does a good job with the show. While I of course love Justin (and am giivng Emily Owens a chance because of him), I don't think Justin's version of GA would work on Arrow. Arrow is darker than most of Oliver's stuff on SV, in my opinion. As much as the show *looks* like Smallville, the atmosphere isn't quite right for the Oliver we know. I'm more than willing to give him a chance, and ogle as encouraged. ("pretty" isn't the right word, but he's still cut quite nicely.) As far as the blonde versus brunette, I don't mind it because his hair is short enough it's not super dark, but it really is weird they don't dye it.

I've only seen one episode so I can't make a final judgement, but I am glad that you think so and you're enjoying the show. Always good to know who I can talk to, if I decide to stick with it!

You saw Emily Owens? What did you think? I couldn't bring myself to watch it. :\ And I agree with what you say on JH's Oliver. Like you said, this show/version of Ollie is a lot darker and it wouldn't have worked out. When it's JH, I just feel like he should be snarking and smiley all the time, despite the angsty moments Smallville gave him.

As much as the show *looks* like Smallville, the atmosphere isn't quite right for the Oliver we know.
Complete with the Luthor mansion set! But I'd compare it to Batman before I compared it to Smallville. :\

I'm more than willing to give him a chance, and ogle as encouraged. ("pretty" isn't the right word, but he's still cut quite nicely.)
Which is why I didn't use 'pretty'. I'd go with 'handsome' and seconded on how he is cut. Those shirtless scenes provided quite the eye candy. CW sure knows how to cast 'em.

As far as the blonde versus brunette, I don't mind it because his hair is short enough it's not super dark, but it really is weird they don't dye it.
True, I'm just weird about stuff like that. I am surprised that they didn't dye it too. I mean, they bleached Justin's hair in s6 and his hair was already blondish to begin with.

The show definitely gets better into the third ep. Catch the other two! :)

Emily Owens is... not a thinky show. Which is good. It's rather slow, not complicated, not too many characters, and all the characters look nothing like each other, which is nice considering how often people on shows look so similar. So it's easy to keep everyone apart. Justin wasn't in a whole lot of the first 2 eps, but he was still there. He looks weird with glasses, but I think he had glasses sometimes on Smallville, unless I'm thinking of Clark. Maybe the biggest problem right now with Emily is that I'm not sure if it's trying to be a drama with some comedy, or a comedy with some drama. Some of the things in it are really serious, it being a medical show, but Emily herself is kind of goofy.

When I said Arrow looks like Smallville, I just mean the cinematography is very similar, the same kind of shots, too many close ups, the mansion set, Dinah/Laurel's office looks vaguely like the Daily Planet, there's a club he goes to kind of looks like the Ace of Clubs just bigger. His training scenes definitely have way more of a Batman feel than Smallville. Maybe if he trained in a big yellow sunny farmhouse.

Hot shirtless men... mmm...

Maybe he'll dye his hair in later eps/seasons? I dunno. Super fake blonde would look bad too.

Will do! :D

With a few exceptions, it sounds like many other shows on the CW. Sometimes, overcomplicating things though is pointless.

That's true!

Justin wasn't in a whole lot of the first 2 eps, but he was still there. He looks weird with glasses, but I think he had glasses sometimes on Smallville, unless I'm thinking of Clark.
Aww, well hopefully that changes in the upcoming episodes. I really only want to watch for him. My best friend saw the pilot and she agrees that Justin looked weird with glasses. I don't remember him having glasses on Smallville though. A lot of characters did at some point, but I can't resist Oliver being one of them. He only wore the sunglasses as Green Arrow, right? Unless my memory is going on me.

From what I read about the show premise, it sounded more like a comedy with some drama, rather than the other way around. I don't think it was meant to be a 'Grey's Anatomy' or ER type medical drama. Then again, I haven't seen an episode so I really can't say. If it helps, my best friend [who is currently doing residency] says that she relates to the main character. :\

Oh, right, right, that makes sense. And I didn't think about Dinah's office, but now that you mention it, it does! I wouldn't be surprised if they were reusing those things.

His training scenes definitely have way more of a Batman feel than Smallville. Maybe if he trained in a big yellow sunny farmhouse.
LOL Wouldn't that be funny? I was thinking more of the whole atmosphere, with Ollie coming back to Starling City and it being run by corrupt officials, though that's a good point about the training scenes.

Hot shirtless men... mmm...
Makes every show better. XD

Maybe he'll dye his hair in later eps/seasons? I dunno. Super fake blonde would look bad too.
Maybe. But like you said, super fake blonde would look bad. He just seems like he'd be better off with dark hair. IDK.

Ooooh!
We just got the first ep of Arrow this week and I liked it... Though I do prefer my Oliver to be blond!!
svgurl: oliver finale smilesvgurl on October 25th, 2012 06:25 am (UTC)
Awesome! And I agree. One my problems with the show was that Ollie wasn't blonde. I mean, you wouldn't think to make Superman or Batman a blonde so why would you make Oliver a brunette? :\
