A/N: for shopfront
How many missed calls? Did he even know that many people?
Clark was still in the process of waking up, but tried to focus one what was going on, dread filling his entire being as he scrolled through the missed calls, to see that Lois, Oliver, and even his mom had tried to reach out multiple times.
Choosing to call his mom first, he tried to reassure himself that if something had really happened, they would’ve at least yelled for him rather than trying to reach out this way.
She picked up on the second ring. “Clark?”
“Mom,” he said, keeping his voice steady. “I saw you called. Is everything okay?”
“Oh, sweetie, I’m fine,” Martha replied, and he released an unintentional breath of relief. “I don’t know how to tell you this but … did you see the Inquisitor this morning?”
That was not the direction he expected the conversation to go in.
“No,” he said slowly. “I just got up. What happened?”
There was a long pause and then. “Well … Clark, you made the front page.”
He blinked multiple times, processing the thought. “Me? Why?”
“They claim you’re in a relationship … with Oliver. And it’s picked up some traction since.”
